Do I need to have previous experience to be a judge?
Yes to qualify as a judge you will need to be a CrossFit Level 1 trainer and have prior experience of judging at CrossFit events.
Do I need any experience to be an Athlete Games Volunteer?
If I’m a judge or volunteer will I need to be there all weekend?
Yes if you are a judge you will need to be available from Thursday evening (28th January 2016) for a judges briefing. If you are a volunteer you will need to be available on the Thursday evening (28th January 2016) to help with athlete registration and event setup. All judge and volunteers will need to be available on both Friday and Saturday. The event will run on Friday afternoon and evening, and Saturday from 07:30 to 18:00 and you will be needed throughout.
What do I get as a judge/volunteer?
You get to be part of a great event! No, well thats not all. Obviously without you there won’t be an event so we very much appreciate your time and efforts. As a judge/volunteer you will have free access to the event all weekend. While you’re not on the judging floor or in the scoring room, you will be free to wander around the event watch the top class athletes compete and cheer on your favourites! You will also get an judge/volunteer pack which will contain a full set of official Athlete Games apparel. There will also be meals, snacks and drinks provided for you over the weekend.
As a judge, will I know the WOD’s before the event?
No you won’t know the specifics of the WOD’s but you will be sent a movement standards document with all the possible movements listed along with the judging standards for each one. It is essential that you familiarise yourself with all of these, to ensure uniform standards of judging.
